I am very surprise to hear that .....K engine was out since 2001 and was used for many Honda model. And after 2009, only very few new models still using it. Is that why they cut it and move ...

my suggestion if you change water pump and hose.
Ask you mechanics to replace other bells and all sealings. Honda have overhaul kit just worth around 2k  only.
